Chat & Notifications
Team chat
Start a direct message with one teammate, or a group chat with several, from Chat → New. Messages support a single file attachment each. Unread counts are tracked per person and shown as a badge on the Chat link in navigation, updating live as new messages arrive — you don't need to refresh the page.
Notifications
The bell icon opens your notification feed — job assignments, time-off requests (if you're a manager), incoming chat and customer messages, and the automatic alerts described below. Notifications can be marked read individually or all at once, and there's a full-page notification list and a "Notifications" dashboard widget for the same feed.
Browser push notifications
Turn on push notifications from Settings → Notifications to get the same alerts as native OS notifications, even when the app isn't open in a tab. This uses your browser's push subscription — if you revoke notification permission or the subscription expires, it's automatically cleaned up.
Automatic operational alerts
From Settings → Notifications, an owner can turn on two opt-in alerts, checked hourly:
| Alert | Fires when |
|---|---|
| Late start | A job's scheduled start time has passed by your configured number of minutes and no one has clocked in yet. |
| Overdue progress | A job's scheduled end time has passed by your configured number of minutes and someone is still clocked in. |
A third alert — job reminders — is on by default for the whole business (not opt-in): every technician assigned to a job gets a push notification a configurable number of minutes before its scheduled start. Each job only reminds once.
Automatic customer emails
Certain actions trigger a transactional email to the customer automatically: moving a job to Travelling, On Site, or Completed; sending an invoice; recording a payment; sending a review request; and sending an appointment reminder or a portal-link email. These are best-effort — if an email fails to send, it won't block the action that triggered it.
